M.A. Friederike Apelt

Friederike Apelt is a research assistant at the History Department of Leibniz University Hanover since October 2014 and member of the Centre for Atlantic and Global Studies (CAGS) since May 2015. She is currently working on her Ph.D.-project tentatively titled “Between machismo and Liberation. The Sandinista Revolution and the West German Solidarity Movement with Nicaragua, 1978-1991. A Gender-specific Perspective”, supervised by Prof. Dr. Christine Hatzky. In 2013 she graduated with a master’s degree in Atlantic Studies in History, Culture and Society at Leibniz University of Hannover and became the coordinator of the interdisciplinary group Transformation Studies (antecessor of the Centre of Atlantic and Global Studies) from October 2013 to February 2014. Her research interests are Gender Studies, Central American History and Transnational Solidarity Movements.
