B.A. Latin American Studies
Latin American Studies (RSL) is a cross-faculty interdisciplinary degree program leading to a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), which is offered jointly by the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Cologne. The Latin America Center acts as an interface between the participating institutes, seminars and faculties and serves as a contact for matters relating to the course.
Latin America has undergone extensive developments in recent decades. Political, economic and social transformation and globalization processes have led to changes both in terms of Latin America's position in relation to other regions of the world and in terms of transnational and translocal developments.
Against the background of the changing role of Latin America and the changing demands of a global professional world, students acquire the necessary technical, methodological and linguistic knowledge to independently and reflectively deal with the region of Latin America during the course of their studies. With the help of methods from cultural studies, social sciences, economics and history, this degree program deals with the cultural and economic regions of Latin America.
