Latin American Centre/Centro Latinoamericano de Colonia (CLAC)
The Latin American Centre (CLAC) is an interdisciplinary institution at the University of Cologne. The centre acts as a network for the institutes at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences that are involved in teaching and research relating to Spanish America and Brazil. It coordinates the interdisciplinary degree programmes BA Regional Studies Latin America, MA Regional Studies Latin America and Diploma Regional Sciences Latin America, and oversees various exchange programmes for students and lecturers with Latin America and Spain.
Latin American history and Romance studies form the main pillars of CLAC, but its interdisciplinary orientation is evident in the contributions of researchers and lecturers from the fields of economics, political science, and economic and social geography.
Spain-Portugal-Latin America Working Group (ASPLA)
The working group aims to ensure that academic dialogue between the individual projects of the institutes and seminars has a firm place in the life of our university, but above all to make students of all participating subjects aware of the close interconnection between the methods and goals that result from the joint effort to research a cultural area. The working group thus seeks to contribute to overcoming isolation and specialisation and to preserve a piece of universitas in our university, which is increasingly threatened by school-like structures and careerism.

We offer the following office hours in the CLAC office (in person, via telephone) for prospective students and Bachelor students: Thursdays: 12:00-13:30.
